Kanimozhi to walk free today, will Karunanidhi reward her?
Kanimozhi is likely to rewarded with a party post for "enduring" 190 days in Tihar jail. This is the buzz in the DMK as party chief M Karunanidhi's daughter prepares to fly down home to a grand reception in Chennai. Rumours are flying thick and fast about her political future.
On Monday, when reporters asked if Kanimozhi will be rewarded with an important post, a beaming Karunanidhi said, "I have expressed my happiness as a father. But because I am the party leader, I am not an autocrat. The party will decide on giving a position to Kanimozhi."
Kanimozhi entered politics in 2007 after a bitter feud saw a temporary parting of ways between the Maran brothers, Dayanidhi and Kalanithi, and the Karunanidhi family. Kanimozhi was nominated to the Rajya Sabha the same year. Later, she was inducted into the DMK's 30-member high-level committee. kanimozhi now heads the party's literary wing.
